When It Comes to Terrorism, TFG Global Travel Insurance Is Your Answer

If you are making plans for a trip abroad, you know you need to make sure that you get travel insurance to cover you during that trip. You should check to see if you travel insurance policy covers terrorism. Many travellers are concerned about problems which might arise due to terrorist activities. Although the chances of anything happening are unlikely, it’s nice to know that the insurance you have purchased has covered this possibility. While many travel insurance companies still refuse to cover terrorism risks, TFG Global Travel Insurance has a policy which covers passive terrorism risk at no extra charge. Passive terrorism is where you are caught up in a terrorist event as an innocent bystander. Obviously, not insurance will cover you if you are an active participant. Some plans will exclude very high risk countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq.

One has to be sensible about the whole issue. If your government advises against travel to a particular area or country there may not be any cover but you need to ask yourself who would want to go under those circumstances anyway? There are a number of other conditions to check up on too. That’s why it is important to read your policy. Before planning a holiday in any country that might be considered unsafe for any reason, we recommend that you check the Foreign Affairs office website first. You may find your travel insurance will not compensate you if you encounter a problem because you will have put yourself at an unnecessary risk. But it is wise to call your travel insurance company before setting off to ask whether you will be covered for your destination. Most travel insurance policies have exclusions for events like terrorist acts, revolution, war, riot and civil unrest. Some trip cancellation and interruption policies will cover the cost of your trip if you have to cancel because of a terrorist event or warning, but not if there was a warning for that country before you purchased your trip cancellation plan. If you are purchasing travel insurance it is important to make sure the policy includes good medical coverage with repatriation coverage, especially as it relates to terrorism.
